“Give and it shall be given unto you! A good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” (Luke 6:38).
Jesus used many graphic images. They made sense 2000 years ago and still do.
Overflowing wealth
Imagine we were invited to fill a supermarket shopping trolley with as much FREE food as you could! We would fill it to capacity. Then press the contents down to cram more on top. Shake it to fill all the gaps and go on filling until the basket is running over. A picture of overflowing abundance!
And Jesus says that when we GIVE with such overwhelming abundance, so we shall receive!
Tithing is giving 10% of our income to God
Tithing is biblical. Read Genesis 14, Exodus 35, Leviticus 27, Numbers 18, Deuteronomy 12, 2 Chronicles 31, Nehemiah 10, Proverbs 3 and 11, Amos 4 and Malachi 3.
Also Matthew 6, Matthew 24, Mark 12, Luke 6, Luke 11, Luke 18, 1 Corinthians 16, 2 Corinthians 8, 1 Timothy 6 and Hebrews 7
We are to give 10% of all we receive to God as a MINIMUM offering!
Secular people nowadays have never heard of tithing. No wonder God says we have been robbing him and that is why we are not being blessed!
But since I discovered tithing years ago I have found a tithe ALWAYS opens the floodgates of abundant blessings. These blessings come when we GIVE to God and his work! The nurses home in UGANDA I gave in memory of my daughter, certainly never expecting anything in return resulted totally unexpectedly in a faithful extra UGANDAN son and website administrator!

God actually tells us to TEST Him in this!
In Malachi, the last book in the Old Testament, God says in chapter 3, verse 10. “Bring the whole tithe into the store house that there may be food in my house. ”
“Test me in this” says the Lord Almighty. “And see if I will not throw open the windows of heaven for you and pour down blessings until there is no more need!” This is the ONLY TIME IN THE BIBLE GOD ASKS US TO TEST HIM. DO IT! SEE THE BLESSINGS FOLLOW!
So what blessings will we see when we GIVE??
What I have always found is:
Blessings of open doors that were locked shut
Blessings in totally unexpected fields
Blessings of new friends
Blessings of new opportunities
Blessings of new inspirational ideas
Give and see what blessings ensue!
